"Portugal takes over EU presidency

There was a symbolic handover to the Portuguese in Berlin on Saturday
Portugal has taken over the rotating European Union (EU) presidency in a tenure likely to involve talks on Turkey's accession.

In coming EU president Jose Socrates, Portugal's prime minister, said he wanted to keep talks on Turkey's possible accession on track."
