EU's Portuguese presidency warns France to respect deficit rules

Portuguese finance minister Fernando Teixeira dos Santos, whose country took over the EU presidency on Sunday, warned France that it will face opposition from fellow euro zone countries if it flouts the bloc's deficit pledges. 'If a country does not want to respect a commitment, that raises a problem that is not legal but political, so I would warn France over the reaction of its partners,' Teixeira dos Santos said at the weeke
