EU economy at its best in 2006

Growth for the 25-nation EU as a whole is expected to rise 2.8 percent from 1.7 percent last year. The European Union on Monday announced more evidence of a strong economic upswing and, with palpable relief, said the recovery was rooted deeper than previously expected. Economic growth in the Euro area was revised to 2.6 percent this year, up from 1.4 percent in 2005, the European Commission said Monday.

Growth for the 25-nation EU as a whole is expected to rise 2.8 percent from 1.7 percent last year.
